If heavy bleeding, miscarriage related, occurs, chances for infections leading to vulvar vestibulitis and vaginosis is a risk. A doctor is likely to determine whether the loss was complete or incomplete. If there remains tissue, an infection may develope. Therefore, D&C procedure may be performed. Vaginal discharge will appear for a few weeks after miscarriages. When symptoms disappear and your body has had time to heal, sexual contacts may be renewed. If heavy bleeding, miscarriage related, occurs, chances for infections leading to vulvar vestibulitis and vaginosis is a risk.

Fetal losses are usually accompanied by a painful sensation in the low back and abdomen, plus vaginal discharge that resembles a cycle. During a pregnancy loss, the discharge is profuse, with clots being expelled.
